Beyond The Chair

Seven years of success, yet something was missing. Christina Elfar, owner of the Massachusetts-based Philosophe Studio & Shop, had a vision for her brand that no designer could quite capture—until we met.

The Problem: A Vision in Limbo

Despite a thriving business, the Philosophe brand felt stagnant. The original identity was limited, and the name—pronounced "philosophy"—often led to pronunciation confusion. Christina needed a brand that reflected the high-end, thoughtful nature of her studio while bridging the gap between "hair salon" and a "lifestyle shop".

The Solution: A Phonetic Rebirth

We leaned into the complexity of the name rather than shying away from it.

  • The Primary Mark: Inspired by dictionary phonetic guides, we transformed the name into [phil·oso·phē]. This elevated the brand from a standard salon to an intellectual, curated experience.
  • The Iconography: We developed a secondary mark—a stylized ampersand merging shears and organic curves—to represent the dual nature of the "Studio & Shop".
  • The Language: Using the StoryBrand framework, we overhauled the messaging to ensure it resonated with her ideal clientele, positioning the customer as the hero of their own style journey.

The Result: A Masterclass in Brand Cohesion

The rebrand didn't just live on a screen; it transformed her physical space. From luxurious, high-end business cards to custom interior and exterior environmental graphics, the new identity provided the professional "polish" Christina had been seeking for nearly a decade.
